I have been using this rubber for a few months now and have gotten to known it much better now. I'll add these comments to both Mark V and Mark V XS.
I am more than impressed with the durability of both of these rubbers; it is extremely impressive and I've never experienced anything like it with the other rubbers I've used. I can train with these rubbers for weeks after having used them in competition and they maintain a similar feel and similar appearance to when they were new.
I still believe Mark V is a more allround rubber than XS but really appreciate that grippy, explosive contact on the ball with XS on my forehand. I’ve also realised that it’s very hard to compare the sponge hardness of the two rubbers as this varies depending on individual sheets. If you don’t use glue you shouldn’t notice much difference.
I’ve been recommending Mark V to players I’ve coached this year in Australia as I truly believe it is extremely good quality at a very reasonable price. I feel comfortable doing this as I know the player will not be disappointed.
You won’t be wowed by a fancy write up and flash sound when you hit the ball (as you should know what I think about loud clicks by now anyway!) but you will appreciate Mark V’s consistent quality, durability and versatility. You won’t have to wait until the rubber is white before your TT budget allows you to buy another sheet. I have no regrets about making the change to Mark V.
